Alcott Cottage
This building is very similar, if not identical to the Richard Cottage. The construction date is 1911, indicating this building to part of the first set of buildings. Design is 2.5 stories, with a full, unfinished basement. Building area is 9,996 square feet, including basement area. Building design includes two covered porch areas, along with a small, three-season porch off the kitchen. As is the case with the other, original vintage cottages, the exterior of the building is stucco and the roof is asphalt shingle. Additionally, the upper half floor has traditionally not been utilized due to fire/building code issues. Improvements of note include replacement of the boiler in 1978; roof covering replacement in 1986; and some interior remodeling in 1999. The main floor layout includes a kitchen with adjacent pantry, group gathering area; dining room; living room; and two rooms that serve as staff quarters. The layout of the second floor includes nineteen small bedrooms (which resemble a dorm room); a large, multi-fixture bathroom; and two staff offices with a half bath. There are also two one-half baths on the main floor. |
